Join the RunningWorks team on our 10-week virtual race to Wilmington

We invite you to join #RunningWorks in a 10-week virtual race to Wilmington, North Carolina. The 400-mile virtual route starts August 1 at the Urban Ministry Center of Charlotte, one of the five locations the RunningWorks team runs each week in Charlotte.

Here’s the link to the virtual race. Please sign up and share it with all your friends, family and running buddies at work and in your neighborhood!

Entry is $6 — 9 cents a day! Homeless runners get free entry. One hundred percent of all donations go directly to RunningWorks, minus the Paypal fees, of course. Each donation goes a long way in helping us further our mission of using sport and education to empower individuals and families to break cycles of abuse, poverty, neglect and homelessness one stride at a time.

You can run solo or in a team of up to four people. Miles can be logged through e-mail, the web, or the Racery app. This race creates community and motivation training for the upcoming Ragnar Carolina race or the Tuna Run 200. And it’s perfect training for the upcoming Charlotte Marathon that several of our runners compete in each year!.

An added bonus for this race is that you won’t need to book hotel rooms or take off work to join the fun. All you’ll need is to log local training and race miles to advance yourself and teammates along the virtual route hosted by As you progress, you’ll enjoy street views of your virtual location. You can also “like” and comment on race logs.

Runners will be updated as leaderboard positions change. In addition, you will receive shout-outs and recognition for personal achievements like longest run or streak. To level the playing field, there is no step-counting — all miles should be walked or run intentionally. Miles are logged on the honor system as honesty is one of our team’s core values.

Registering is super easy. Here’s a video for more information:
