World-renowned fashion designer Luis Machicao will debut his Spring/Summer 2017 collection in support of RunningWorks, a nonprofit helping families and individuals transition out of homelessness and poverty.
Luis Machicao is an internationally known fashion designer who has dressed countless socialites, celebrities and dignitaries around the world, and who has been seen on 17 motion pictures, including The Hunger Games. A native of Peru, Machicao’s impeccable taste also caught the eye of the country’s President, who commissioned him to personally design fashions for the First Lady.
On September 30, Machicao will debut his Spring/Summer 2017 collection in Charlotte during Metamorphosis, a charitable fashion event raising money and awareness for RunningWorks. The nonprofit organization, headquartered in Charlotte, serves homeless men, women and children in the Carolinas.
“We chose the name Metamorphosis because it is so symbolic of the change being made in the lives of the homeless individuals and families we work with each day,” said RunningWorks Founder and Executive Director Meredith Dolhare. “We see them each go through their own metamorphosis as they transition out of homelessness or negative circumstances and get their lives on the right track.”
Metamorphosis will be held at LaCa Projects, located at 1429 Bryant Street in Charlotte. This unique fashion event will feature professional models walking alongside many of the homeless men and women who participate in RunningWorks.
All proceeds from the event will go towards helping RunningWorks further its mission of using sport and education to empower individuals and families to break cycles of abuse, neglect, homelessness and poverty one stride at a time.
