RunningWorks is pleased to announce that the date for Metamorphosis 2017 has been set for Saturday, October 28 at LaCa Arts Projects. This year’s theme is “Unmasked,” and tickets are now on sale.
Metamorphosis, the signature annual fundraiser for RunningWorks, fuses fashion and philanthropy. The event will feature homeless men, women and children walking the runway alongside professional models. For the second year in a row, RunningWorks is teaming with world-renowned designer Luis Machicao. He will showcase his latest collection, “In the Garden of Memories.”
All funds raised from the event will go towards helping RunningWorks further our mission of using sport and education to empower individuals and families to break cycles of abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness one stride at a time. Last year’s event raised nearly $100,000 to help support our five programs in the Carolinas and went a long way to help our neighbors in need.
As RunningWorks continues to celebrate its fifth anniversary, the organization has helped more than 89 individuals and families make the transition from being homeless to securing housing, and over 100 participants have gone from being out of work to finding employment. In addition, our participants have collectively completed over 70 races and more than 3,000 volunteer hours as a team. Our goal is for this year’s event to be successful so we can continue our efforts to be of service to our community.
Machicao’s “In the Garden of Memories” collection is dedicated to his late sister, who recently died from breast cancer. The designer, who has dressed countless socialites, celebrities and dignitaries from all over the world, says designing the black-and-white collection was therapeutic and believes it may be his best work yet.
