The holiday season is just around the corner, and the RunningWorks Team is inviting you to join us in kicking it off with #GivingTuesdayCLT Presented by Wells Fargo and powered by SHARE Charlotte.
#GivingTuesdayCLT (Nov. 20-27) is Charlotte’s local response to the global #GivingTuesday movement. Occurring this year on November 27, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspired people to collaborate in improving their local communities by giving back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
RunningWorks is doing our part to help make the Charlotte community stronger. This #GivingTuesday, help us give the gift of housing to six of our most dedicated team members who are making the transition out of homelessness.
Since 2012, RunningWorks has been dedicated to the cause of eradicating homelessness in our community. As a sport-for-social change organization, we have done this through programs and outreach initiatives that are designed to motivate participants to apply valuable skills accrued through sport – skills such as hard work, perseverance, teamwork and dedication – to achieving their goals for health, wellness, professional development and personal growth.
Earlier this year, RunningWorks launched a pilot program for housing. Thanks to the generosity of community partners and dedicated supporters, we raised funds to house 24 individuals (including three children under the age of 10) during the pilot phase. Our goal is to help 30 individuals make the transition out of homelessness and secure housing in the coming year. With your help, we can achieve this goal in the months to come.
By making a donation, whether it’s a financial gift or the gift of your time, you are helping to make an investment in the future and wellbeing of a neighbor in need. In addition to providing financial assistance and direct access to affordable housing, your valuable gift helps provide a year of supportive services to participating tenants as they make the transition out of homelessness. These services include mental health services, health education, fitness programs, financial literacy classes, professional development, life skills training and much more.
Here is a more in-depth look at how your donation to RunningWorks makes an impact in the community:
