Join us for the 12-Hour Run to End Hunger and Homelessness in the Carolinas

Global Running Day is Wednesday, June 6, and RunningWorks is hosting our third Annual 12-Hour Run To End Hunger and Homelessness.

Held the first Wednesday of June, Global Running Day is all about celebrating the sport of running. RunningWorks uses this special day to raise awareness for homelessness and poverty in the Carolinas by running two one-mile routes through Uptown Charlotte for 12 hours.

In our first two years, we ran/ walked a combined 990 miles as a team and community. In a show of solidarity, people working downtown don our event shirts and join the fun to log miles in support of the cause.

Since 2012, RunningWorks has been dedicated to supporting causes to eradicate homelessness and hunger in our local community. Our mission is to use sport and education to empower individuals and families to break cycles of abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness one stride at a time.

The 12-hour run will begin at 6 a.m. on the corner of Trade and Tryon Streets. RunningWorks team members and community volunteers will run relay-style for 12 hours. We are also setting up a tent in the city square to distribute information about homelessness in the Carolinas and our efforts to combat  hunger, homelessness and poverty.

Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are available for this year’s run.  Previous sponsors include: Wheelhouse Foundation, Just Fresh, Elevation Church, Trinity Partners, Performance Therapy, Sisu Events, Start 2 Finish Event Management, Eat the Bear, Atlantic Dealer Services, LaCa Projects, Windsor Jewelers, Estelle’s, Ragnar Relays, Run For Your Life, Bella Tunno, Feetures, AsahiKasei and Charlotte Ultra Running.
